“Kids, Critters & Cowboys” is the theme for the 2023 Twin Falls County Fair

Twin Falls County Fair August 30 to September 4

The 2023 Fair will showcase a new multi-purpose building that will include shared space for the Photography, Flowers and Produce Departments. Put yourself in the history books as someone that had photographs displayed in the very 1st year of the new building!! At this point, there are a lot of “unknowns” as to the set-up, display area, space, etc. We will just have to be patient, flexible and “go with the flow”! Information will be passed on to you as soon as it becomes available.

In the meantime, we will begin passing the sign-up sheets for the Photography Dept. clerks. They will be available at the July meeting but contact a board member if you want to sign up sooner. Receiving Days are Saturday and Sunday, August 26-27, Clerk days are Wednesday thru Monday, August 30 – September 4th, and Release Day is Tuesday, September 5th. Please don’t hesitate to sign up for several 3-4 hour shifts!

For those of you new to the MVCC, the Photography Building clerks are MVCC members and are paid by the Twin Falls County Fair. Members donate their time (and pay) back to the MVCC. This is our annual club fund raiser and the reason we do not have membership/annual dues. The money provides funding for club activities, workshops and guest speakers. As a BONUS to those that help during the Fair, the MVCC will offer a FREE workshop next Fall or Spring to those members who helped during the Fair! (The fee will be $40 for those who do not work at the Fair.)

The Photography Premium book is now available on the Twin Falls County Fair website. Click on the “Premium Book” tab – “Cultural Division” – “Dept. 17 Photography”. Paper copies are also available at the Fair office in Filer. It contains all the dates, rules, and information you will need to enter images in the Fair. There are several additions and changes, so be sure to look through it carefully! There are both Color and Black & White Classes in each of the 4 “levels” – Amateur, Intermediate, Advanced and Professional and a “Lot” (subject) for every image. Now is the time to start preparing your images for the fair! Remember that you can enter up to a total of 8 images. (This does not include the MVCC Challenge Jackpot Challenge!)

Please do not post your fair photos on Facebook before the fair!! All of the judges are members of the Magic Valley Camera Club.

More information will be posted on the MVCC Facebook page in the coming weeks! Karen Randolph, Photography Superintendent
