Ward Charcoal Ovens State Historic Park
Ernie Colver is planning a trip to the ward charcoal ovens to view and photograph the eclipse the weekend of October 14th. The closest campground is Willow Creek. It will be in a 3 Min zone according to the path map, as it is south of Ely. The park seems to be a first come first serve park with a $20 overnight fee. He will try and call the park to get more information. He will bring his truck and camper maybe Thursday night to try and get extra sites.
You will need to research eclipse photography and make sure to have the correct filter to photograph the eclipse. Ernie is a Nikon Z shooter and plans to use his trusty nikor 28 f2.8 and 75 F1.2 for astro shots unless he can find a few different lenses to rent or borrow.
The area has many photography opportunities and Ernie would gladly shuttle around to find them. Will be a be a great weekend and Ernie is excited to share with the MV Camera Club. Hope to see some of you there.
